OPSEU local 491 represents over 450 Allied Health Professionals working at Queensway Carleton Hospital, Arnprior Regional Health, and Almonte General Hospital.
The local’s primary responsibility is to assist and support our members with any issues or concerns that may arise in the workplace with respect to administration of the collective agreement. Our secondary responsibility is to negotiate a collective agreement on behalf of our members.
Union Locals are run by members for members. The Local Executive Committee (LEC) is the governing body for the local. It is comprised of stewards from various areas who run for executive office and elected by the general membership. The LEC meets four times per year. We also hold General Membership Meetings twice a year.
